More and more people choose bicycles to get around the city these days. In the last few years, Bergen municipality has improved and enlarged its biking lines in and around the city. A large number of public electric bikes are available for rent in several locations in town.
In Cycling Bergen we are passionate about bikes and our beautiful city and want to share information about some of our favourite routes so more people can enjoy them.
Learn moreOne of the reasons for using a bike as an alternative to a car is the environment. Cycling is way more environmentally friendly and decreases the number of vehicles on the roads, which means cleaner air to breath.
Forget about paying for expensive gas and road tolls. All you need is your bike, a helmet and start cycling.
Riding a bike is not only good for the environment and your pocket; it also is excellent for your health. You get a workout while commuting.
You might be familiar with Landås, Fyllingsdalen, Laksevåg or Fana routes, and we want to invite you to experience them in a different way.

Scroll down for more details, choose your favourite route and plan your next adventure.
Laksevåg route is easy and pleasant. Laksevåg is a borough of the city of Bergen, located in the western part of the municipality. It has residential areas on the hillside of the mountain Damsgårdsfjellet facing the Puddefjorden. By the fjord itself are several industrial buildings, many of them connected with the maritime industry. The rococo-style Damsgård Manor is located here.
This is the longest and hardest of our routes. We recommend it for those who have, at least, a moderate daily activity. The borough of Fana is located in the southeastern part of the municipality of Bergen. It was once part of the historic municipality of Fana which was incorporated into Bergen in 1972. The old municipality was much larger than the present-day borough of Fana.
This route is slightly more challenging than Laksevåg or Landås, but suitable for most. Fyllingsdalen is a borough of the city of Bergen located southwest of the city centre in the Fyllingsdalen valley, west of the mountain Løvstakken. The neighbourhoods of Fyllingsdalen mainly consist of reasonably large apartment buildings with little industry or commerce.
Landås is the shortest route and a good option is you want a quick trip near the city center. Landås neighbourhood is located by the western side of the Ulriken mountain massif. It was the last part of the historic Årstad municipality to be urbanised, with the development of Landås taking place mainly after World War II. The unique Landås Church is located in this neighborhood.
